While I was editing my fourth novel (The Silversmith’s Puzzle, coming May 2025), I cut out a short adventure that featured in the first couple of chapters. It’s a case that Captain Jim was sent to London to solve. Now he had received an urgent cable from his wife Diana’s brother that compelled him across the Atlantic. But before Diana and he can return to Bombay to help Adi, Captain Jim needed to complete the job he was assigned.
So this was my conundrum: leave the little case in the main novel, or cut it out? I pulled it out, but my editors thought it a nice “Holmesian” piece, so we published it on kindle this March as A Disgraceful Embrace!
It’s very short, so we added the first three chapters of The Silversmith’s Puzzle, to give readers a look, and set the stage. Here’s the link!
